You have to know the street address and the correct city/town name to get optimal results, but there is absolutley NO comparison between having this in the car and using maps or hand held units. You can not only use it to guide you, but to check the traveltime, distance, etc., when planning road trips. Unlike web based map services, when there is a recent change to conditions, routing, accessibility, etc., the unit instantly recalculates and provides revised and optional routing. I believe that this is a "must have". The newest software also offers travel services, including gas stations, restaurants, business services, points of interest, etc...like the cell phone and email, how did we ever get along before we had this?

The 750M portable navigation system from Magellan provides 750NAV functionality without requiring a permanent installation. Compact, lightweight, and rugged, the 750M's portability and easy set up makes it ready for use in minutes--without the cost and inconvenience of installation. It's the ideal navigational tool for road warriors, frequent travelers, fleet and lease-car operators, recreational vehicle owners, and multi-vehicle families.
Smaller and lighter than many notebook computers at seven pounds, the 750M comes pre-assembled and self-contained in an attractive carrying case with a shoulder strap for easy transport. It includes free map coverage of the entire United States and Canada and features an off-road navigation option. The included power adapter, battery, and battery charger provide system power. Simply attach the Battery to the system, plug the system into the accessory power port, place the antenna on the roof, and you're on your way.
The intuitive 750M gives you visual and voice-prompted, turn-by-turn directions to any domestic location--at any time and in any vehicle. It combines map-matching, inertial navigation technology, and continuous free data from Global Positioning System satellites to provide extremely accurate guidance data. The unit's color display shows the driver's position on detailed maps of streets and highways. You can exclude routes with construction, traffic, or accidents, and you have the option of choosing the fastest or shortest route. If you take a wrong turn along the way, the 750M automatically recalculates your route from your current position. It powers on and off through ignition sensing.
Other features include the option to choose a male or female voice from seven languages, view routes in four formats, and store 100 frequent destinations. The 750M also shows services available at each highway exit and works off its database of more than 500,000 businesses, hotels, restaurants, shopping centers, government facilities, and business-related retailers.
Magellan also offers a mobility kit that converts the 750NAV to a portable system (includes all 750M components except the navigation computer and display; additional displays are available).
