(More customer reviews)I bought my 755T over two years ago. I had another Garmin model before I bought this model. What brought me back to Garmin was its ease of use. You can virtually open the box right up and figure it out on your own. Actually, it needed to be this way because you don't get a hard copy of an owner's manual. The unit comes with a one page booklet for four different languages. If you want more detail, you have to go online to read/download the more comprehensive version.
I was sold on "Lifetime" map updates but tonight I found that to be kind of A SCAM. Lately, when I turn the unit on it will tell me to update my maps. Tonight I took the unit inside to do just that but found out I have to pay $50 to get an updated version. I thought the advertisements where supposed to allow for free updating but I shouldn't be getting a warning telling me to update my maps then either.
The unit is ungodly slow too to boot up. My Droid Incredible is able to find my location in 5 seconds. Garmins take 3-5 minutes if they weren't used in a few hours or more. That's along time when you aren't in a great neighborhood, lost on a highway, dark road, or have to catch a flight.
The traffic updates are okay at best. I live in NE PA and never see the traffic icon appear. As I travel the country this feature appears and is fairly accurate. However, the voice activation should warn of delays because if you're driving you usually find the delay first then look at the unit when it's too late to avoid the delay. I lay mine on my lap to view it better and not look like a total tourist and limit theft potential with the suction cup marks (a dead give away that you have a GPS when parked at a hotel or industrial park).
Again, my main reason to rate this product average is because:
1. No real "Lifetime" traffic updates.
2. Boot up time is way, way to slow.
