The first Skinomi Tech Skin that I got was for a Motorola Droid and had been impressed with it after having it for about a month. I was happy to find the same skin for the 4.3" Nuvi models. The product name says Nuvi 760, I know, but if you look at the descriptions on ALL 4.3" Garmin Nuvi models, they have the same screen HxW measurements down to 1/10". So, I decided to give it a shot with my 255w, and did so with success.
As with any Skinomi Tech Skin, make sure that you read the directions thoroughly before beginning. Here are some tips for installation:
- Take your time. A few extra minutes spent during installation is worth the results.
- Thoroughly clean the screen and then use a shot of compressed air to remove any specs. Even "lint free" cloths can accumulate lint with use or a cycle through the wash.
- Keep everything wet with the solution: both sides of the skin, your fingers, and possibly the screen itself.
- Get as much air out as possible, but don't worry about small bubbles or "microbubbles" (tiny spherical bubbles).
- I'd keep the Garmin off for all of the 24 hours recommended. With the recessed screen, some of the solution can easily make its way inside the unit.
- Give it a few days for all of the bubbles to go away. They WILL go away. But, the more you have, the longer it will take (hence, my first tip).
The only negative that I have with this particular model is that it's about 1/8" narrower than the screen itself. If it's centered, that leaves 1/16th of an inch on both sides. Not really that bad and it's probably that way by design to make it easier to remove if needed.
